Classroom Guidelines

Please take a moment to read the following information and save it for future reference. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask your teacher.

Adult Participation-Enjoy yourself and participate! Like singing “Happy Birthday” at a party- it doesn’t matter how good we sound, but that we all join together and have fun. Modeling in this way is essential to your child’s development of a disposition to make music.

Child Participation-During early childhood, learning is accomplished through play. Allow your child to participate in whatever way he or she chooses, using his or her own unique learning style. Only intervene if it seems that there is a safety issue or if your child’s behavior appears disruptive to the group dynamic (your teacher can clarify this for you and help develop strategies to address issues if they arise.)

Special Musical Environment-In our culture, we spend so much of our time speaking, we ask that you try to refrain from talking to create a special musical environment for you child once a week for 45 minutes. This also allows for the best observation of your child’s musical development.

Guests-Spouse, grandparents and any other adults close to you may attend class. Under special circumstance, another child may attend class as a guest (advance permission from the teacher is required)

No food-No food allowed except during the lullaby, when a bottle or sippy cup is appropriate (and nursing is always okay)

Make ups-You may schedule up to two make ups during the current session by going to Make-up schedular The password is ‘milton’ . If you are not connected to the internet, you may call Gwyn at (508) 838-9815

Class cancellations- If the public schools are closed due to snow, there are no MT classes. I will also post cancellations on the website under the news section: If classes are cancelled for any other reason, you will be notified by 8:30 AM on the day of class. Every effort will be made to schedule an additional make up class when needed, or a credit or refund will be issued for the pro-rated amount.
